International women Day

Each year on March 8, International Women´s Day, women around the world take time to celebrate the achievements of women and to reflect on our current status, demanding legal and economic equality and freedom from violence. International Women´s Day has its roots in the international labour, socilalist a and  peace movement that were active in the 20th century. IWD has been held on March 8 since 1917 and it is a national holiday in many countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Today a great song   for all women around the world to celebrate all they do and are! This is one of John Lennong finest songs...

And eventually...our Saint David´s daffodils

During Saint David´s Day men, women, boys and girls are used to dressing up and pinning daffodils on their clothes apart from the leeks...It´s really magic!

3th B grade have made Wales daffodils ....Keep an eye on here!...It´s really great!!!

Lest´s move on to Saint David´s symbols

The flag of Wales.
Here we can see Welsh girls carrying the flag of Wales on Saint David´s Day.
The red dragon of Wales dates back to Roman times.
Welshmen, women and children carrying the dragon as a symbol of pride in their history and culture.
The green and white background comes from the family colours of the Tudor Dinasty and was added in 1.959.

My pupils of 3th B grade have made the flag of Wales in the classroom...they said that the flag is very beautiful!!!

A recycling class in our school!

Today we had a very interesting lesson about recycling.
We knew mr.Igloo. He was great! And we gave him a lot of food!
The teacher explained to us many interesting things about glass. For example egyptians invented glass more than 5.000 years ago!!
We played games, watched a video and finally we made a cut out of mr.Igloo.It was so funny!!

Symbols associated with Saint David and Wales.

The flag of Saint David is a yellow cross on a black background...
On Saint David´s Day, the flag of Saint David and the Red Dragon Wales´s national flag, will be flown more than usual.
People often wear leeks in remembrance of Saint David´s guidance during the battle against Saxons when, supposedly, Saint David advised Welsh warriors to wear a leek during the battle with the saxons, so enemies and allies could be distinguised .They won the battle and the leek became a Welsh symbol.
